A one-shot comic book titled Final Destination: Sacrifice was released alongside select DVDs of Final Destination 3 in 2006, and a comic book series titled Final Destination: Spring Break was published by Zenescope Entertainment in 2007.įinal Destination was written by Jeffrey Reddick after having "read a story about a woman who was on vacation and her mom called her and said, 'Don't take the flight tomorrow, I have a really bad feeling about it '". In addition to the films, a novel series, which includes the novelizations of the first three films, was published throughout 20 by Black Flame. The series is noteworthy among other horror films for its use of an antagonist that is not a stereotypical slasher or other physical being, but Death manifested, subtly manipulating circumstances in the environment with a design on claiming anyone who previously escaped their fated demise. After avoiding their foretold deaths, the survivors are killed one by one (usually in the order they died in the premonition disaster) in bizarre accidents caused by an unseen force (said to be Death itself seeking to kill them due to the disruption of its plans for their deaths) by creating complicated chains of cause and effect, resembling Rube Goldberg machines, and then read omens sent by another unseen entity in order to again avert their deaths. All of its five films are set around a small group of people who escape impending death after one individual (the protagonist) sees a sudden premonition and warns them about a major disaster that is about to happen. It is based on an unproduced spec script by Jeffrey Reddick, originally written for The X-Files television series, and was distributed by New Line Cinema. Easily the dumbest scene, however, isnu0026#39 t the ending but the way the aggressive teen turns around his car to beat up the movieu0026#39 s main hero, and nearly kills the bicycle-driving teen – while completely ignoring the fact that he nearly killed him and caused an accident! That was really, really dumb.Final Destination is an American horror franchise that includes five films, two comic books, and nine novels. The conclusion is almost like a mockery of all the previous happenings (the movie turns from horror into the horror comedy genre). The flight disaster scenes are terrific, the murder scenes are very good, and there is real interest as to what is going to happen next, in spite of a premonition that the conclusion canu0026#39 t and wonu0026#39 t be satisfactory. Nevertheless, FD is never dull even the obviously weaker second half. that a u0026quot seriousu0026quot horror film wasnu0026#39 t made. Itu0026#39 s a pity that the premise wasnu0026#39 t taken and u0026quot assignedu0026quot to a cast of adults, i.e. When one compares the excellent beginning with the ridiculous horror/comedy ending, it is like looking at two different movies. Still, I was a little surprised just how unseriously the movie ends. I say inevitably because there is a group of teens involved so obviously there can be no long-term seriousness. “A minor SPOILER here.u003cbr/u003eu003cbr/u003eA very good premise that gradually – and inevitably – drifts into teen horror film territory. When he suddenly has a premonition their airplane will crash, he screams to warn the others but instead he is thrown off of the plane. Alex Browning is among a group of high school students readying themselves for a trip to Europe. With Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, Kristen Cloke. Final Destination: Directed by James Wong.
